Sea Youth Rise Up is a joint initiative that provides a platform for the brightest young minds of today, who have a passion for the ocean!

Sea Youth Rise Up (SYRUP) unites young leaders (ages 16-23) from across the country in Washington D.C. for several days centered around Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW) and World Ocean Day (June 8th) and builds on the youth-led ocean advocacy that has been critical to advancing investments in ocean protection and ocean-based climate solutions.

Organization Responsibilities:

Organizations may have different application processes, but each must fill out the Organization Registration Form, secure traveling plans for their group, and make sure all of their students individually fill out the Delegate Registration Form.

Organizations are responsible for providing at least one (1) adult chaperone per two (2) students (ages 16 to 23), with a maximum of six (6) students and three (3) chaperones.

Participating organizations are responsible for payment of their own groups’ hotel rooms, on-the-ground travel costs, daily lunch & dinner, in addition to a $500 registration fee per student delegate. This registration fee will help cover the cost of event venues and catering for the Advocacy Day & Social, t-shirts for the delegates, and lunches & dinners.

*Please note, in the unfortunate and hopefully unlikely case that extenuating circumstances (outside of the control of the coordinating organizations) create a situation where Washington, DC becomes unsafe to bring students for an in-person program, we will work to recoup up to 60% of any financial losses.

SYRUP Responsibilities:

Logistics: Reserving room blocks, snacks, daily breakfast, scheduling all government meetings

Activities: Youth Advocacy Training Day (+food), Social For The Sea (+food), End of Trip Dinner
