2019 Sea Youth Rise Up Video Competition

The Sea Youth Rise Up Campaign will bring together a delegation of youth leaders to Washington D.C. for World Oceans Day and Capitol Hill Ocean Week to gain skills to expand their ocean conservation work, network with world leaders, and highlight the importance of youth leadership by pushing for real change.
The Sea Youth Rise Up Campaign is calling passionate young people ages 16-21 to submit a 90 second video highlighting their innovative ideas about how young people can help improve the health of our blue planet. The video contest winners will be selected to join the youth delegation in Washington D.C. from June 4 to June 9, 2019!
Official Rules: HOW TO ENTER
Create a video of no more than 90 seconds in length and upload it to your own YouTube account/channel. Then copy and paste your video hyperlink to your submission form below!
The video must answer the following questions:
Why is it important for young people to have leadership roles in ocean conservation?
What do you believe is the most pressing issue threatening the survival of our ocean today?
How do you think youth can help solve this issue facing our ocean?
Applicants will be judged on the quality of their answers and visual creativity of their video.
The contest starts at 12:01 A.M. EST Wednesday, May 1, 2019 and closes at 11:59 P.M. PST Wednesday, May 16, 2019. The winner will be announced on Sea Youth Rise Up’s Facebook page on Friday, May 31, 2019 by 11:59 P.M.
By submitting a video, you give Sea Youth Rise Up and affiliated entities the right to include your video in future media and for promotional purposes.
This contest is not sponsored by Facebook or YouTube.
To participate, student must meet the following requirements:
Be above the age of 16-21 on or before June 4, 2019.
Be able to travel to Washington D.C. from June 4 to June 9, 2019.
Be in good physical health.
Be enrolled at a learning institution.
Submissions will be given a score out of 100 total points:
Question 1: 25/25 Points
Question 2: 25/25 Points
Question 3: 25/25 Points
Written Responses: 25/25 Points
The winners will be flown, with all expenses paid, to Washington D.C. to participate in Capitol Hill Oceans Week - meeting with world leaders in the United States Capitol. Afterwards, they will have the opportunity to speak in a Facebook Live event to an international audience of thousands of people. This will allow them to inspire the world to take action for the ocean. Finally, the delegates will close World Oceans Day with a Social for the Sea event to network with fellow ocean leaders.
The winners will also be given the chance to meet and work with other young ocean leaders throughout the three day campaign. Due to the dynamic nature of our campaign, this schedule is subject to change. Submissions must be primarily in English, as determined by the Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization.

If entrant is a minor in his or her jurisdiction of residence, she must have the consent of her parent or legal guardian to enter the Contest.
The one (1) natural person whose full name is listed with the Submission will be deemed the entrant (“Entrant”).
Each individual Entrant is allowed a total of one (1) Submission during the Contest Period.
Entrant must be an individual. No group or team submissions permitted.
If a Video Submission includes the image/likeness of any identifiable persons other than Entrant, Entrant agrees to obtain the consent of all such identifiable persons who appear in the Video Submission before entering the Video Submission and shall provide evidence of such consent to the Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization upon request.
Each Submission, including any Video Submissions:
must be the original work of the Entrant produced for this Contest, and should not be the result of any material creative collaboration with any other individual or third party;
must not have been published previously in any medium; it must not infringe on any party’s intellectual property, including but not limited to copyright, trademark or right of privacy or publicity or any other rights;
must be suitable for display and publication, including for display and publication online (e.g. it may not be obscene or indecent, including but not limited to nudity or profanity); it must not contain obscene or pornographic material, it must not contain defamatory statements or messages (including but not limited to words, images, or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation or socioeconomic or other group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business, group or world peace, it must not invade privacy or other rights of any person, firm or entity, and it must not in any other way violate or depict a violation of applicable laws and regulations;
must not include any infringing depictions (as determined in the Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization’s sole discretion) of any third party trademarks or logos; including but not limited to on clothing such as T-shirts, hats, etc.;
must not feature alcohol products, tobacco products (including cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco, electronic cigarettes, and snuff), contraceptives, fireworks, firearms and ammunitions, prescription drugs, illegal drugs and related drug paraphernalia, nutritional supplements, lotteries and gambling (including horse or dog racing and products or services related to gambling);
must not contain any copyrighted works. You may not include any music in your Submission other than original music created and legally owned by the Entrant. Use of any music in your Submission created or owned by any third party may result in disqualification of Submission by the Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization’s sole discretion.
Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to remove or blur or to ask the applicable Entrant to remove or blur any non-material elements (e.g. small logos on clothing, artwork hanging in the background, etc.) rather than disqualify an otherwise compliant Submission.
Submissions that do not comply in all material respects with these Official Rules or that otherwise contain prohibited, or inappropriate content as determined by the Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization, in its sole discretion, will be disqualified and will not be considered for prizes. Sea Youth Rise Up, the Ocean Foundation, Big Blue & You, Inc., The Ocean Project, or any affiliated entity or organization makes the final determination as to which Submissions are eligible to take part in this Contest and be considered for a prize.
